SYNOPSIS
On the 7th of June 2010, Khaled Saeed a 28-year-old Egyptian was allegedly tortured to death by two police officers in plain clothes after refusing to be searched under the emergency law while he was sitting in an internet cafe. The Egyptian government denied the content of the testimonies of eyewitnesses as well as reports by human rights organizations and claimed that Khaled Saeed was a "wanted criminal" who died of ASPHYXIATION after swallowing a packet of drugs. The video is about a demonstration that took place a week later on the 16th of June 2010 near Khaled Saeed's house in Cleopatra district in Alexandria protesting against his murder.

DIRECTORS' STATEMENT

This was just a video test for my new camera. I met my friend Mohamad El Hadidi in the demonstration and he decided to try the new camera. We were not planning to make any video out of the footage but when we checked later the material he had shot we decided to make this video. We only wanted to upload it online to let everybody know about Khaled Saeed who was brutally killed. The famous photo of his skull smashed and teeth broken was all over the internet so many people came out of their silence and went out in massive demonstrations demanding justice. The least I and Mohamad could do was to record and publish this not knowing back then that it was the first glimpse of the Egyptian people's anger and steps towards freedom.
