Hend Bakr, Mayye Zayed, Ahmed Magdy Morsy, Mohamad El-Hadidi, Nermeen Salem and Mohamed Zedan are Egyptain filmmakers who met and studied together in the Jesuits Cultural Center's Film School in Alexandria in 2009/2010. They were all part of the crew of Ibrahim El Batout's feature Hawi in 2010. Although they come from different backgrounds, they have always worked together as different crew members in each others' work. In 2010 they started working on their first feature The Mice Room that was finished 3 years later in 2013. Together they have founded Rufy's Films to keep on making films with each other and to help other filmmakers as well.
Hadidi is a Berlin based film director, producer and cinematographer He studied filmmaking in the Jesuit's Cinema School in Alexandria in 2009/2010. He is also an alumna of t he Berlinale Talents 2018. He has been working as a producer and cinematographer in many shorts and features that were screened all over the world in prestigious film festivals.
Currently, he is working on The Last Night, his first feature fiction film as a director.
After studying English Literature in Alexandria University, Nermeen studied filmmaking in the Jesuit’s Film School in 2009/2010. Then she had a Fulbright scholarship to study film & religion in the University of Saint Thomas in USA in 2010/2011. Nermeen is interested in animated and stop-motion films. She is now working on her first feature animated film.
After studying Law in Alexandria University, Zedan studied filmmaking in the Jesuit’s Film School in 2009/2010. Later, he studied in MASS Alexandria for contemporary art in 2013. Zedan is also a film curator who used to program the film screenings in the Jesuits Cultural Centre in 2014/2015 and in Zawya Alexandria in 2015. He now works as an editor in Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as he is working on his first feature documentary "I Have A Picture" as a director.
Hend is a poet and a short story writer, whose work has been published in several newspapers and periodicals. After studying Arabic Literature in El Azhar University, she studied filmmaking in the Jesuit’s Film School in 2009/2010. She also worked as a curator and a coordinator of culture activities in "ACML Egypt" cultural office. Then she participated in the Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean (BJCEM) in Roma 2011.
