Workshops & Activities [2009 - 2010]

During the period 2009-2010 Rufy's Films was located in Gleem neighbourhood and has organised the following events and workshops.



​Film Screening & Director's Q&A: Underexposure (2005)

[February 27th, 2010]

A film screening and Q&A with the film director Oday Rasheed who is the co-founder of the Independent Iraqi Film Center in Baghdad. The film is the first feature made on location in Baghdad after the fall of Saddam Hussein. It is about an Iraqi filmmaker Hassan who documents the lives of his friends and neighbors in the tumultuous days following the U.S. invasion of his country. The film was shot with almost zero budget on outdated film stock, the director has foundAmong many awards, it won the prize for best film in Singapore International Film Festival in 2005.



LSA Graffiti Workshop

[December 1st - 4th, 2009]

LOCAL STREET ARTIST was an independent art project divided into 2 workshops led and organized by the Graffiti artist Aya Tarek, where one of them was in cooperation with RUFY's. The idea was based on the creative re-identifying of public spaces as exhibiting areas with maintaining an access with the space components. The workshop was about practicing stencil techniques and styles, introducing trends and ideas, with the attempt to separate the use of Western techniques from being affected by the identity, and working on the manufacture of a local identity stems from the interaction with elements of local content and the street, through (Presentations - Lectures - Interactive Tours - Live Experimentation).



Motopia's Dream Exhibition

[November 19th, 2009]

An exhibition made by the artist Mohammed Fawzy, founder of MOTOPIA ART CULTURE SIWA HOUSE that provides cultural and developmental activities to help in developing the Siwan community. The exhibition had paintings, photographs and sculptures that were made by Siwan children as results of free workshops and activitie. The exhibition was to raise money for the Siwan community to establish workshops and free activities for the Siwan children.



RUFY's Cima Club "The Orange"

[August 30th - September 20th, 2009]

An event made and organized by Mohamed Zedan where films were screened daily, to introduce uncommon world cinema to the Egyptian audience and to celebrate Iranian cinema, silent cinema and the great film director Akira Kurosawa.



Photography For Charity Exhibition

[August 1st - 15th, 2009]

An exhibition organized by the Egyptian Medical Students' Association in Alexandria (EMSA-Alex) and Ayadi Al-Mostakbel Oncology Center (AAOC). The exhibition was to raise money to cover some medical treatment for poor cancer patients, who can not afford the costs in AAOC.



Photography Workshops

[July 2009 - May 2010]

A photography workshop led by Mohamad El-Hadidi every month, twice a week to cover photography basics and techniques. Each workshop was accompanied by photo tours and outings.

 

Radio Workshop

[February 9th - April 8th, 2010]

A workshop about Radio broadcasting. It was 8 sessions covering the following topics; what do we need to know about radio, types of programs, recording, sound editing, sound mixing, radio interviews, vox bob, radio drama and finally broadcasting. 

Black Box Photography Workshop
[March 8th, 2010]

An educational workshop for the black box photography technique, concerning the manufacture, use and adjustment of the black box, and the development and printing of the resulting photos. The workshop was led by the visual artist Dahlia Refaat.
